Forest Hills Golf Club

Seniors’ golf at Forest Hills is very vibrant and fun. We are lucky to enjoy a beautiful course that is playable virtually all year round. We aim to go out of our way to make each new member to the section very welcome. The course, clubhouse and Pro Shop have all benefitted, in the last eighteen months, from substantial investment by our new proprietor, so I feel lucky to be part of a super club at an exciting time.

Our Monday competitions are usually team games (eg Texas Scramble, Bowmaker, Multiplier, Yellow Peril). Thursdays are more often for individual competitions, medals and major competitions. Members register to play these competitions on the Intelligent Golf App and are allocated tee times, ensuring that they find themselves playing with lots of different golfers, getting to know a full range of Seniors quickly. The turnout is currently about 60 to 70 on most occasions, teeing off from soon after 8am.

We enjoy frequent summer friendlies against other clubs, including Chipping Sodbury, St Mellons, St.Pierre, The Players Club, Burghill Valley and Gloucester. Keen local rivalries add spice to matches with Lydney and Forest of Dean.

During the Winter months we still play qualifying Monthly medals, and also a Singles knock-out and a Hi-Low Pairs series . We play in more competitive Winter Round Robin League with other clubs including Ross-on-Wye and Leominster.

All competition details can be found in the Seniors Section Handbook, available upon request from myself or Paul Taylor, Fixtures Secretary.

If you are a new member and yet to join the Seniors Group, or if there is anything we can do to help, please contact me or any member of the Seniors’ Committee.
